Welcome to your one-stop resource for all things Lower Naugatuck River Valley.

Covering the towns of Ansonia, Derby, Naugatuck, Oxford, Seymour, and Shelton, this site was created to bring together the people, places, and resources that make the Valley such a unique and connected community. Whether you’re looking for local events, hidden gems, or practical information about schools, services, or small businesses, you’ll find it all here—organized, updated, and easy to access.

From longtime locals to newcomers just settling in, our goal is to help you feel more rooted and informed. Explore historical landmarks that shaped the region, discover volunteer opportunities, or find your new favorite coffee shop. Inspired by community-driven projects like Electronic Valley and family-forward platforms like FairfieldMoms, this site is designed to celebrate the Valley’s past while making today’s information more useful, neighborly, and accessible, and to help shape a wonderful future.

Places to Visit. Things to Do. People to Meet.

From hiking trails and historic theaters to hometown festivals and inspiring neighbors, there's always something to explore in the Valley. Stay connected, get involved, and celebrate what makes our corner of Connecticut truly one-of-a-kind. #ValleyProud

What OurValleyCT.comIs — and Isn’t

A welcome mat for new neighbors. A gathering place for longtime locals. A love letter to the Valley.

Welcome to Our Valley CT, a site built for neighbors, newcomers, and anyone who’s ever tried to explain what “Valleyness” means (and found it’s better felt than defined).

This site is a living record of life in the Valley — past, present, and future. Think of it as part community welcome guide, part local lore archive, and part bulletin board for getting more involved in what makes this place special.

We’re here to help you:
✔️ Learn about the people, places, and stories that shaped Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, and Shelton
✔️ Find meaningful ways to plug into your town (and maybe meet your neighbors along the way)
✔️ Celebrate the everyday heroes, local gems, and shared traditions that tie us together

What we are not:
🗞️ We’re not a news site. No headlines. No breaking coverage. No comment section battles.
If you want to know who won last night’s city council vote or what’s going in next to the Dunkin’ (let’s be honest, probably another Dunkin’), this isn’t the place.

We’re more “How did that bridge get its name?” and “Here’s how to join your town’s next cleanup day” than “Tonight at 11…”

This is a slow media space — intentionally rooted, community-minded, and always open to neighborly contributions.
