Local Biz Spotlight: AM Bagel
AM Bagel in Derby, CT

Let’s talk about a local hotspot that’s only a couple of years old, but somehow feels like it’s been here forever.
AM Bagel is one of those places. Every time I’m here (at least once a week) it’s busy. People are coming in and out constantly. There’s usually a line, but it moves fast. And it just feels like it belongs here.
This isn’t a fancy place. It’s not trying to be trendy. It’s not trying to reinvent the wheel. It’s just really solid. Really good bagels. Really good breakfast sandwiches. People know exactly what they’re coming here for.
You see regulars right away. People who clearly don’t need to look at the menu. You see staff who know how to keep things moving without it ever feeling rushed or chaotic.
The shopping area around it blends into the territory. These are mostly errand-type businesses. You’re usually in and out, not lingering. But AM Bagel is one of those spots where people do linger, even if it’s just for a few extra minutes while they wait for their order or to chat when they run into someone they know. This happens to me almost every time!
The smell of fresh bagels hits you the second you walk in, and honestly, that alone sells the whole experience.
This is the kind of local business that becomes part of people’s routines. It’s where you stop before work, after school drop-off, or on the weekend when you want something easy but good. They are open 7 AM - 12 PM on Wedesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 7:45 AM - 12PM on the weekends. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. That is, if they don't sell out and have to close early. Keep an eye on their Facebook page or sign up for emails to know for sure.
AM Bagel is one of those local places that was started by local people and is a source of pride for our community. If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend you give them a try.
